Blog #5: WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION?
Whenever a new administration starts, the people close to the president begin the battle for authority and power, and the Washington press and other news sources push for scoops on the “palace intrigue.” Those senior aides try to get reporters to write profiles that "pump up the aides’ influence", while the reporters hope a favorable profile results in a grateful aide leaking them information in the future.
So who has Trump chosen? It seems he has split up his administration into 8 branches or wings of power. 1) There is the Bannon-Wing -headed by Steve Bannon, Trumps chief strategist. 2) The Pence wing -headed by Trumps Vice President, Mike Pence. 3)The McCain wing -headed by the secretary of defense, Jim Mattis. 4) The Friends and Family wing -headed by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser. 5) The Party Wing -Headed by Trump's Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus. 6) The Wall Street Wing -headed by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser. 7) The Bureaucrats -led by the 1.8 million workers at federal agencies. Lastly, 8) All other important figures including Members such as Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, and White House Counsel, Donald McGahn, and Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
BLOG #6: TRUMP ACCUSES OBAMA OF "WIRE-TAPPING" TRUMP TOWERS.
On March 4, 2017 President Trump tweeted “How low has President Obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!” Leaving many Americans confused and wondering what this crazy allegation was based on. Even with everyone questioning him, Trump and his administration have yet to withdrawn his claim, and also have yet to display any evidence either.
A White House spokesman told A Fact Checker that the White House is relying on reports “from BBC, Heat Street, New York Times, Fox News, among others.” According to a article on New York Times, the White House aides have internally circulated an article on Breitbart titled “Mark Levin to Congress: Investigate Obama’s ‘Silent Coup’ vs. Trump.” Breitbart is a right-leaning news organization that is a rather unreliable source of information. Often the information found there that is published is derivative and twisted in misleading ways. This article claimed: “Two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community have confirmed to Heat Street that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of ‘U.S. persons’ in Donald Trump’s campaign with ties to Russia.”
